This year marks the Centennial Anniversary of the Friends of the Institute, an organization of members dedicated to supporting our neighbor, the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia). Plan on attending a special version of our popular Washburn Fair Oaks walking tour to learn about the area’s history, prominent citizens and architecture, and the many unique ties to Mia and the Friends.
Tours begin at the Hennepin History Museum, the home of the first Friends’ President, Carolyn McKnight Christian. End the tour at Mia in the Cargill Gallery with its beautiful exhibit highlighting past Art in Bloom art and marvel at Eugene Delacroix’s extraordinary Still Life with Dahlias, Zinnias, Hollyhocks, and Plums, a gift to Mia from the Friends to honor the Centennial.
Choose a tour date on either Thursday, June 23 or Friday, June 24, with tours at 10:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.
