Hennepin History Museum seeks poetry about love! Send us writing that deals with all kinds of love in all its stages. Interpret the theme such that it incorporates or references a historical event(s) or figure(s). We are open to all genres; however the length of the poem should be no more than one (1) page in length. Selected poems will be printed as a broadside on card stock and copies made available to the public at various locations throughout Hennepin County. 

-Please send us up to three poems in a single document. One poem to a page.

-Any spacing or margin size is fine, as well.

-Please send a .doc, .docx or .pdf file type.

-Simultaneous submissions are great! Just let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Please no previously published works.

We are unable to compensate poets monetarily. However, we hope to showcase poems to the community. Please make sure language is appropriate for all ages. Any further inquiry should email: acoma.gaither@hennepinhistory.org

To submit your poetry please complete the form below or send via email to acoma.gaither@hennepinhistory.org put “Love Letters” in the subject line and include your name, email address and a brief bio.

Saving Your Story For Later: "I give Hennepin History Museum the right to add my responses as included above into its archival collections and preserve it for future generations of students, scholars, and researchers with the understanding that submission of this material does not guarantee it will be retained by the museum. I unconditionally transfer any copyright or intellectual property interest in this submission; to make the materials accessible to researchers and staff in print and digital format, to promote its use in exhibits, displays, publications and online formats. I understand that Hennepin History Museum reserves the right to not accept or retain any portion of this gift that falls outside of the parameters of its collection goals."
