Join us for the kickoff of our new walking tour and exhibit in collaboration with the St. Louis Park Historical Society – “Skunk Hollow: The Story of a Swamp” – which shines a light on the history of industrial pollution in the city of St. Louis Park.
The walking tour and exhibit follow the transformation of a region from land and water, to industrial suburb connected by rail, to thriving residential and commercial hub. More in-depth information is provided about the manufacturing practices that led to widespread groundwater contamination in the mid-20th century and the subsequent clean-up.
The walking tour will start in front of Doc’s Hall Event Space at 1:00 p.m. The tour will conclude by 2:30 p.m.
The pop-exhibit and accompanying reception will start at 2:30 p.m. in the historic Doc’s Hall Event Space, which is the last remaining St. Louis Park commercial/industrial building from the 19th century. Appetizers will be provided, and local beer, wine, and other beverages will be available for purchase.
