Let’s get outside! On Saturday October 19, please join us at The Trailhead in Theodore Wirth Parkway for a day packed with activities celebrating Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ (Bassett Creek). For full event details, please visit the Loppet Foundation’s webpage here.
At 7:00am, a race called the “Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ 12-hour Loopet” will begin.
At 9:00am, the 5k Fun Run and Walk will begin. This untimed event is perfect for running or walking along the creek, either solo or with friends!
At 10:30am, the Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ Little Loppet will start for kids to walk, run, and romp.
At 11:00am, there will be story time with Dakota author Joanne Zacharias.
At noon, a short film will be shown by Lakota filmmaker Jordan Marie Whetstone.
At 1:00pm, the “6-hour Loopet” will begin.
At 7:00pm, the Loopet races end.
And from 9:00am to 2:00pm, please stop by Hennepin History Museum’s table! We’ll be teaching people how to pronounce the creek’s Dakota name and sharing history about the area. During this time, there will also be an Indigenous People’s festival featuring Native vendors, foods, artists, running groups, and more.
To participate in the races, please register here. Please note that Indigenous people can participate in any Loppet event for free by emailing events@loppet.org and requesting a discount code.
Rain or shine. Free and family friendly.
