Please join us for Service Saturday to learn about Ȟaȟá Wakpádaŋ / Bassett Creek and help care for the creek!

10:00 a.m. – Meet at North Loop Playground for litter pick-up and invasive species removal (402 West River Parkway, Minneapolis). All supplies provided. The event will end by noon.

Ȟaȟa Wakpadaŋ is the Dakota name for Bassett Creek. Using Dakota place names helps to honor the people who have lived here for thousands of years. Historian Crystal Boyd will be available to answer questions about the creek and its connections to Indigenous people.

Volunteers can enjoy free sunflower cookies from NATIFs, an Indigenous vendor.

Thank you to the North Loop Neighborhood Association for co-hosting this event. And thank you to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for providing the supplies!
